Ok so I have this exhaust leak that I just can not find. I have changed the Exhaust manifold gasket still leaks checked the maifold bolts again. Still leaks. I check the nuts where the air pump thing is they are tight. Can they still leak like around them? It sounds like it comes from the top area. I have a gasket for where the manifold comes to one pipe that I will be changing prob tomorrow. Anyone have an idea or have similar problem? Thanks

Typically, wherever the exhaust is leaking out, there will be a carbon tracking all around the leak.

Have a friend hold a rag tightly over the tail pipe blocking all flow. You should be able to hear the exhaust coming out of any leak then.

I have a 1998 and I changed the donut gasket between the manifold and the downpipe once and that solved the problem the first time. The next time I had the same leak from what I thought was the same place.....I ordered another donut gasket and put it in. To my surprise that wasn't the fix. My down pipe had cracked arounf the flange and I just removed the downpipe and welded the crack. http://forum.planetisuzoo.com/viewtopic.php?t=13372&highlight=exhaustJoe

I figured out what is was. Its from the pipes that run into the the head from that air pump thing. On the front two the nipples that seal it when tight broke off. They didn't fall into the motor or anything just broke. I noticed that the thing kinda had some play so i unbolted it. Lucky for me there is a junk yard close and they only had one that had that piece still. So i bought it along with a trim piece for around the radio for $23.00. I have not started it yet but Im sure that was the prob. If not Ill be letting you guys know. Thanks for your input. That rag over the tail pipe thing sounded like a good thing to try. If I have a new one or a friend with one they can't find Im gonna try that.
