Getting the Wheeling Fever
Since building and wheelin my montero for 3 years now, all the abuse has finally caught up with me
the engine is going, the t case and 5 speed needs rebuild.
So instead of spending alot of $ on rebuilding the Montero,
I have a 1979 Ford Bronco frame with a 500HP engine i just finished building,C6 trans,NP205 transfer case, 9" rear with 4.11 and locker,44 high pinion solid axle (front)
After taking careful measurements, the 4 dr body will fit (with alittle afro engeneering)

It will be the "Bronctero"
I will post pix as the build progresses, starting next week !

PS. i am selling the factory rear locker (notlimited slip)

1990 Montero LWB V6 5-SP Locked Rear/33/12.50 Kumho KL-71 Mud Terrains/3" body lift,bars/springs/poly/shocks/custom skids/lots of lights/snorkle/etc......

Old man engineering is a little more PC. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/mrt.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

If you leave the wheel base alone, but set the engine andtrans back a little, you'd have good weight distibution. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

That will be cool to see...although the old Broncos are one of only 2 vehicles that I think are cooler looking than the Monty's. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/ignore.gif" alt="" />

Reminds me of whats going on with Franks old Pajero over on the OuterLimits. The work they did to swap a new body over was truly amazing!! Tons of work, but I guess easier than making and swaping over the SAS, or would it?

Good luck,
Angelo

Anything Bolt on is TONS eaiser than Fabrication. Wrenching to me is mindless work. Changing a water pump, or axle bearings, or pulling a motor requires very little thought, and planning. Some, but not nearly what it takes to SAS a frame, let alone change the front, and rear suspension around.

If I ever find a pristine 2 door truck for cheap, I will be body swapping. Prob have to build a hoist or something, but it will be much much eaiser than re-fabbing everything.

You can just McVicker-it. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Didn't he do his himself, without a hoist? Throw up some pics of that McV. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

Are you 100% sure it is a locker? Was it welded?

I just want to tell you both good luck, and we're all counting on you.
