Body Damage is Cool
Whats the difference between windshield frames for CJ's? I know that the motor mounts at the top or bottom but is there a width difference? I dont feel like shelling out $200 for a new frame, and I can only find frames from years higher than mine.

TIA

I could be wrong, but I believe they are all 55 inches, including the wide tracks.

All CJ7's are the same, as well as the later CJ5's. I don't know about the early CJ5's.

I am thinking that all 76 and up CJ and YJ windshields are the same with the exception that the YJ has a couple of ribs along the front bottom of the frame for extra strength. The hardware from my 77 CJ fit it fine. When I bought my complete body "kit", as far as I can figure, it was a fiberglass YJ body as a couple of the body mounts were different and the metal W/frame had those ribs I mentioned before. It came with a metal CJ grill. Everything bolted together fine. I did put in a 4 wire W/W motor but the 3 wire mounting holes looked the same. As long as you dont own or buy TJ parts, you should be fine. Before 1976, I have no idea. Hope this helps. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/notooth.gif" alt="" />
