Getting the Wheeling Fever
It's been a while since I posted here, mostly because my two diesel engine swaps have been running flawlesly.
I'm on to the next one and would like to bolt a NV4500 5 speed up to a Isuzu HF1 engine. Does anyone know if this is a standard SAE bolt pattern?

Thanks
Randy

I can't speak for the HF engine, but the B series automotive engines were not SAE pattern, the bolt spacing around the bottom is not consistent where the SAE patterns are.

However the industrial engines do look like SAE, but I don't know anyone who's measured one up.

Randy those are awesome conversions, thanks for letting us see them. That is great advice on your pages too.

HI RANDY , DOUGAL IS CORRECT THE AUTOMOTIVE VERSION OF THOSE ENGS OR RATHER TRUCK VERSIONS DID NOT USE TH E ASE PATTERN, THE INDUSTRIAL ENGS DID , HOWEVER ON ALLMOST ALL OF THE BELLHOUSING WHERE THE LARGE TRANSMISSION FRONT BELL REGISTERS IN THE BELLHOUSING THE REGISTER DIA IS THE SAME AS AN SAE , ONLY THE BOLT HOLES DONT LINE UP, JUST SET THE BELL IN THERE AND REDRILL THEM, I JUST CRUSHED TWO COMPLETE 4HK1 ENGS THAT WERE BRAND NEW AND COMPLETE ,FOR ISUZU , I ALLMOST CRIED , WHEN THE BIG MAGNET HAMMER CAME DOWN ON THEM ,, THEY WERE THE ORIGINAL PROTO TYPE ENGS AND HAD A LOT OF HAND MADE PARTS ON THEM THAT WERE A ONE OF A KIND AND COULD NOT BE REPLACED , THESE THINGS EVEN HAD THE STARTERS AND ALT AND IONJ PUMPS ON THEM ,ONE WAS A MECHANICAL PUMP AND TH E OTHER WAS THE COMMON RAIL TYPE . ALONG WITH 2 OF THE BIG 6 HK SERIES MOTORS , THE 4 ENGS WEIGHED 4600 LBS AND THER E WAS A LOT OF ALUNINUM THERE . JERRY

I might try and find just the NPR bell housing and adapt it to the NV4500. This is what I did with the Jeep and it worked very well. That way I keep the NPR clutch and release brg and only have to worry about trany input shaft spline mating up to the Isuzu clutch disc.
