Lance Cpl. Sharratt has been acquitted of ALL charges in the Haditha kilings. I believe their Sargeant has been acquitted as well but I forget his name. I believe there are still some whose cases have not been decided but are they are probably going to be acquitted as well. They did their job, they did it well and they have my thanks!

Couldn't find a mainstream media outlet who carried the story. If someone else finds it please post up!

One word of caution...don't hold your breath waiting for Murtha to apologize for calling them murderers and cold blooded killers...before they ever went to trial.

I would rather suffer the consequences of a Conservative?s error, than suffer the consequences of a Socialist's intent.

Wouldn't be interesting if you could get Murtha alone in a room with those soldiers? Not that I'd want them to hurt him (because they'd get punished), but the look on his face would be priceless.

I know he probably won't apologize and I also don't expect that any democrat will try to force him to.

Stony,
He is being sued by Lance Cpl. Sharratt for damages. He is trying to hide behind the speech and debate clause but since he made the comments on public t.v. and not on the floor of the house I don't think he is protected. The soldier was interviewed on Sean Hannity the other day and they were trying to talk him into running against Murtha since he is their congressman. I'll bet he would get a lot of votes!

I'd love to watch that race.

Shawn Hannity already suggested it to him in an interview. He replied he thought he was too young. Man would that be great though. Murtha is one dirty SOB that has to go.

No Murtha isn't sheilded from a civil suit. The speech/debate clause is to protect them from being sued by each other, it doesn't sheild them if they publicly defame a fellow American.

Unfortunately you wont find any major news agency confronting Murtha and others about their comments, even if they did, I am sure Murtha would simply reply they got off and were still guilty.

You are correct, sort of. The speech or debate clause protects them from lawsuits for anything said on the senate or house floor. According to Hutchinson vs. Proxmire senators and house reps are not protected from statements made to public entities or in press releases.

I honestly believe that no soldier should be punished for killing in a war.(within reason) It is up to our leaders to make sure they send our troops into battle against an enemy army therefore knowing who the enemy is. This police action crap is ridiculous. I'd be so stressed out I'd end up killing a few innocent folks myself.

My point is troops are deadly weapons so make sure you have them pointed in the right direction. Its not the Marines fault they are there.
