ok this is the deal, I have an 85 isuzu 4x4 on my fathers place with a diesel in it. Belonged to a x brother-in-law. I remember that the oil line to the turbo cracked and that was the reason it got parked. I am just wondering which engine this is and the source for new turbos, also if this engine is worthy of bringing back to life(hp and torque). I would get the info from the data plate but this thing is buried in multiflora rose and blackberry bushses. I know little of Isuzu trucks, I am sorry to admit, although i do speak Toyota, but willing to learn <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I may be showing my ignorance a little here, but I did not think the turbo pickups came out until 86/87. Of course, a turbo engine could have been retrofitted into the truck. Are you sure it is a turbo? Maybe the oil line to the alternator (combination vacuum pump/alternator) cracked instead of the turbo oil line???

Either way, as long as the oil level did not get too low, neither component going out should not have crippled the engine permanently.

For turbo rebuilds, see:

maybe I was mistaken to I thought I saw the owners manual laying around a a couple of years ago , and i recall it said 85 on it but i must be wrong. Sure it was a turbo because he had the turbo laying on the table. This was years ago.

Sounds like you found a very revered vehicle. I would do just about anything to restore an 1985 4x4 Pup with a C223T turbo diesel in it. Still I think the previous poster is right, the Isuzu Pup didn't come from the factory with the turbo, that'd be a C223 normally aspirated engine. Over at http://isuzupup.com they can tell you more about those.
