(Mods - move if you must)

With all the fires and evacuations in So Cal this week, I am hopeful that our friends and acquaintances in the area are all safe and sound.

Does anyone have any updates or status? Anything we can do to help???

I'll hopefully see some our southern Isuzu neighbors this weekend. We will be searching for a shelter in the Goler Gulch, near Randsburg. As far as I've been able to find out, this place has just nothing to burn - there are just rocks around. This is exactly what is needed in this situation.

Arna and Dallas were in an evacuation zone but they never got the call. House and Shop were okay last I heard.

Orange County (were I live) stayed pretty safe. We lost 10 house in a canyon but that was it.

Many of my 4-wheeling friends were evacuated from the Big Bear Mountains (Arrowhead on the News), some have reported that their houses are okay. Others have houses in areas that were hit hard. No confirmed homeless friends yet but many areas are stilled closed.

Our mostly SoCal Isuzu group is meeting this Saturday, Oct 27, 11:30AM, Denny's restaurant parking, 16262 Sierra hwy, Mojave, CA. If anybody wants to join us there, you are welcome.

As far as I know, no friend from SoCal has been seriously affected by the fire.

If I lived in a fire-adapted ecosystem like that, I would have concrete siding and roofing shingles...

It the fire gets close enough, it breaks your windows and your house burns from the inside out. The fire resistant roof definitely helps.

A defensible yard is the best situation. No large shrubs or trees close to your house.

Yeah, if you are living next to Ponderosa pines or such flammables it won't matter what your house is made of if the fire gets that close...but at least your roof wouldn't catch fire from embers that can land on it even if the fire is a ways distant.

What are you guys going to be doing besides eating breakfast? There is an event at Willowsprings. Cobra Owners of Orange County is having a track day with lots of mustangs, cobras, GTs etc. I was thinking of going for the cars but just saw your post regarding meeting up. Mojave is just a bit more down the road from Rosamond. I'd love to see your Axiom as well.
