Need a Spot
I have a 97 T100 and my speedometer needle is loose. I had it checked out at my local mechanic and he told me the cable is tight. He said its most likely the needle itself and he couldn't fix it or didn't want to, so I should go to a Toyota dealer. I was wondering if anyone has run into this problem and knows how much it might cost. I know its probally going to be pretty pricey since they have to take the dashboard apart. Also was wondering if anybody has had the problem and fixed it themselves. Is there a lot involved?

Bounces more then a little bit, its off by about 10mph. In the cold weather it stays up on 120mph.

It is not really that hard to take that whole unit out. I can send you a step by step process if you want it. Is the needle actually cocked to one side and dragging on the background piece or does the whole mechanism seem to be gummed up? For some reason everyone, myself included, experiences the thing bobbing around, especially at low speeds.

That would be great if you could send me some info on how to do it. The needle justs seems loose. When I'm going about 20mph its on or around 30mph and bobbing around. I can deal with a little bobbing, but this is way to much. Like I said earlier when its cold out its pinned to about 120mph and bobbing. Since its my daily driver I want to be able to fix it.
