Finally had enough with the stock AM/FM/Cassette radio...so I got a Scion CD/MP3/WMA/Sat radio T1807 made by Pioneer (Model DEH-M8057ZT) fer cheap on eBay ($41 shipped). I will have to git some extra adapters to make the SAT/Aux work. It's double DIN so I end up losing the extra tray under the radio but I think I can deal with that fer now.

Removal of the stock radio is pretty simple.
Pull out the drink tray a little bit.
Work the bezel out starting from the bottom. This is held in place with 4 spring clips. Work bezel around the drink tray.
Push the drink tray back in so you don't break it.
Unscrew the 4 screws that holds the radio in.
Remove antenna cable and wiring harness from the rear of the radio.
Remove the 4 screws that holds the brackets to the radio. I would recommend a 10mm nut driver to take these off since they are in pretty tight and a phillips screwdriver isn't gonna cut it without stripping.
You will have to remove some material from the front edge of the bracket because it will hit the front panel of the new radio. I did this by just scraping the offending corner on the driveway a few times until there was enough clearance...about 10 times. Repeat on the other bracket.

Bolt the bracket to the sides of the new radio. Since you only have 2 screws per side, you could go to the store and git 4 more screws or just screw the existing screws to the front part of the bracket. Yer choice...

You will have to modify the bezel to clear the new radio. I got mine with a modified bezel done so I just compared it to the original bezel. Looks like it was just trimmed on the sides with a dremel tool to make the clearance.

I had to disconnect the plugs from the external amp to connect to the new radio. Not sure how I'm gonna hook up the factory subwoofer now. Guess that's something I'll have to work on later.

Connect up the wiring harness and antenna cable to the new radio. Make sure the harness isn't rubbing up against anything and push the radio in place. Starting with the upper right screw, install the radio.

Pull out the drink tray and install the bezel. Push the drink tray in. Presto! Only about 30 minutes from start to finish if you trim the bezel before hand.

Looks good. Some guys take out the drink holder entirely and use the slot for cd's. Not the smartest thing to place a drink ABOVE a radio,,,,,

I only put bottles in there with caps. As you can tell, the prior owner(s) didn't fare as well with their drinks.

While I was in there, I had to fix the cable going to the heater valve. Guess it got sticky and it popped off the arm and got bent up. Lucky it was easy to reshape the cable and lube it with some grease. At least it works fer now.

Now I'm off to customize the startup text to say BamZipPow T-100...

I was thinking of installing a new unit with an MP3 input - does the factory SR5 radio have any aux jacks in the back?

For $75 or so I would go rather just go ahead and yank the stock unit.

I have a double din pioneer the PO put in. Simple and easy to use, no aux in though. Newer radios do have the jacks, pretty sure anything factory doesnt besides new stuff.

I may have to use CD's but aint no one gonna steal my radio, its worthless to almost everyone b/c of its size and its age.

I have an Alpine 6 CD changer under the passenger seat; 1996 vintage but works great. I use an FM ipod patch now but reception sucks around major metro areas. Can also use a cassette adaptor but they hiss like crazy.

Probably will change out stock to a more modern unit with the MP3 input on front.

As far as I know...there weren't any aux jacks fer the stock head unit. I felt around the external amp and didn't feel any extra connections except fer the subwoofer output.

Update after over a year...

Pulled the T1807 out and put the stock radio back in fer a few days. It sure was nice to have some low end again!

Got a T1806 off of eBay fer $65 shipped...not too shabby. Just put it in tonight. At least I'll have iPod capability once I source out the cable fer the unit from a Scion...

The major change from the T1807 was that I had to trim some of the T1806 head unit on the left side as it was extended out a little more than the T1807. Also, this one has colors that are selectable. Makes fer more entertainment fer the toddler.

Hi I just recently bought a walmart special Dual XD1222 cd/mps/receiver to replace an 86120-33030. I got power to the radio but the speakers do not work. I used the hwiring harness that came with the radio and matched up the colors. After not working, I noticed that the colored pairs that are at the front right and left speakers do not match the pairs in the harness coming from the dash.

Ex the pair on the left front speaker is Pink/purple...but the cable that has the purple is paired with a light green and has a shield.

Can anyone help on this.

the color pairs at the speakers are below but the harness of the factory radio has different colors in different cables. Can you help

Left front + pink
left fron - purple
rt front + light green
rt front - blue

left rear + black
left rear - yellow
rt rear + red
rt Rear - white

The below comes from this site where you can get most any car radio wiring diagram for free:

On EBAY, you can get a wiring adabtor that will fit the factor radio harness and have about 6" of labeled wires coming out. That way you can cut/splice these wires to your new radio and still be able to plug in and out of the factory harness. Cost is about $11 including shipping.

Hope this helps
