Hows its going all.
New here with a few questions, Ive owned my T for about 2 years now and have decided to jump in to some mods, coming in the near future that is. Anyways I have a few concerns. I see a lot of people saying that its alright to have a low oil pressure at idle, but they all seem to say that it goes back up at mid rpm. My concern is cruising city or freeway mine sits just barely above the first line, is this ok? My oil is not low... Second question is I do not know jack crap about engine oil. I use Quaker State High Mileage in my motor every 3k miles. I was wondering what you all thought about this oil. I have the 96 Auto Trans 4x4 Ext Cab with 170k miles. Thanx in advance for any answers.

What weight oil are you using? Try 10W30 or 10W40 if not one of those.
I just filled up with Mobil1 10W30 in order to use up my remaining stock. I watch the oil pressure in all my cars like a hawk. Here is what my T does:
Starting up cold oil pressure immediately jumps to the middle of the gauge at idle. As the oil warms, after 30-45 minutes of driving, it's now thin enough to idle near the line above the L mark. I estimate this is about 7psi.
Cruising between 2k-3k rpm the needle is always near the middle, further to the right when the oil is cold.
You got any valve noise? If you are using the right oil I would tend to think the meter or the sender may have an issue. Pull the sender off the block and hook up a mechanical gauge. You need to have at least 4 psi at idle and 36 psi or more at 3k rpm.

Oil guage is notorious for low readings at idle, but get the pressure checked anyway. I use cheapest oil, 5-30 winter 10-40 summer. Change every 3K or 4 months, WITH filter. If you beat the motor, use better stuff. If you just drive normally, then all oils are basically the same except for price. It's how often you change it and the filter.

I think your oil pressure is OK, my gauge reads pretty much the same, as is others from reports I've heard.
