Im thinking a half inch bead around each cylinder... IM KIDDING! Im using a rock head gasket and it has no silicone around the front timing cover (unlike the stock toyota gasket) should i put a smidge there?

Im installing the head first than the timing cover if that makes a difference

You only put a dab of sealant on the front corners where the timing cover and the head meet.

Funny you should say that. My father had a real pile of crud ford laser years ago. Blew a head gasket about 200kms away from any form of civilization. He yanked the head, ditched the blown head gasket and smeared a 1/2" thick bead of liquid nails around the cylinders/journals. Got him home and lasted a few months before he had to ditch the whole engine. Nothing would remove that head afterwards. We tried turning the motor over with the headbolts removed, smashing the side of the head with a sledge hammer and even lifted the weight of the car with an engine crane attached to the head... lol

>>>*Liquid nails....That's what I just got done putting some tiles up with on an outside wall down at the old house.

*No place to swing a hammer up under the eaves, I tried staples but when I reached for the next piece the last piece fell off.

So I stuck them up there, if I ever have to remove the stuff I will just pull the wall down....*EB

*Beats the he** outa me!....*LOL**...
