cant get the intake manifold off. trying to do a head gasket - timing chain job on '87 22RE engine. removed all the 8mm bolts and 2 8mm nuts and tapped on it with block and hammer. no go. i dont want to crack the aluminum casting with brute force...

Did you remove the 6mm allen head bolt under the thermostat housing?

Sounds like that is the problem. I didn't read anything about a bolt under the thermostat housing, but there's a lot they leave out of the aftermarket shop manuals. thanks, I'll check it out when I get home.

FWIW, the 93 FSM at the top of this section will ballpark you on your 22RE work. Just be aware info for the 3.0 is in it also, so pay attention to your specs. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />
