Ok, I purchased a rebuild kit and the oil pan gasket is a one piece gasket that follows the curve in the oil pan. But doesn't really fit the pan. What is a fix for this? should I order another one and hope its different? or just cut it off?

THERE IS NO OIL PAN GASKET ON THE 2.6 ENG UNLESS IT IS 2WD , FOR THE 4WD ENGS THE LOWER PAN (CRANKCASE IS SEALED TO THE BLOCK WITH A GOOD QUALITY RTV SEALER , YOU DO HAVE END SEALS , THAT MUST BE INSTALLED IN THE REAR MAIN SEAL CAP AND ONE ON THE FRT SEAL RETAINER , INSTALLED CORRECTLY THEY WILL NOT LEAK, DONT EVEN TRY AND USE A PAN GASKET , OR YOU WILL HAVE TO DO IT OVER JERRY

hey jerry thanks for the info. it seem like there was a gasket on the engine when I took it off. So dont use the rubber gasket and use some silicone gasket maker?

THE 1.9 ENGINES DID USE A LARGE RUBBER GASKET BUT THE 2.3 AND THE 2.6 INLY USE THE HALF MOON SEALS AT THE END OF THE CRANKCASE. THEY MUST BE USED THERE THE REST OF THE SURFACE WHERE THE MAIN PAN BOLTS TO THE BLOCK USES SILICON SEALER, ,THE BOTTOM PAN ,THE SMALL ONE DOES HAVE A GASKET ON IT . JERRY
