93 toyota x-cab,,22re 5 speed,,,i went out 4 wheeling this past weekend and after a while,,the front end started to make a grinding noise and squeeking noise every once in a while,,,every time it was under a load (going up a hill or on the gas) the noise went away,,,the 4 wheel drive still worked great,,,,it even made the noises when i was rolling in neutral ,,,at the end of the day when i got back to the street and unlocked the hubs it was perfect with no noises at all,,also now i noticed that when driveing down the road my steering wheel shakes back and forth a little bit,,,,,,,,,,,thanks for any help

was the sound coming from both side? i would just think to take the hubs off and grease them nicely.

Could also the bearings/bushings (they came with both)in the spindles need to be greased.

I really doubt it is the hubs, once they are locked in there are no moving parts. It would be more likely they would squeak when they are unlocked.

i really do not know what it is,,,it sounds like it is the driver side,,,all i know is that when i unlock the hubs it is good,,,and when the 4 wheel drive is under pressure it is good

sounds like you need to do a teardown and look for shiney areas. I recently had problems with lt & rt hubs (sfa) and it turned out to be the inner hub seal. there is a round spring in the seals which causes the seal to squeeze around the spindle. well the spring somehow came out and was grinding between the hub, bearing and spindle. try grabbing the top of your tire and push it in and pull it toward you. mine you could feel the play. after the new seals, it was sweet. just my 2cents.

I gave you one suggestion. Tear it down, it will not fix itself.
