I went mudding about a month ago and dunked it HARD (too hard) It stalled, we pulled it out and found lots of water and mud in the air box but it didn't hydrolock. Get it off the trail and on the drive home it will barely idle. Get a tow home and on the way it starts to run fine again. I changed the oil and air filter and cranked down the battery cables (reason for stall) and it seemed to run fine (2 weeks ago)

I started it this morning and it immediately died. Multiple restarts later and it will idle but as soon as I touch the gas it studders and dies. The idle sounds perfect.
There doesn't appear to be any vacuum hoses loose nor sensors loose. I disconnected the TPS and the idle went up but the same results when I touch the throttle.

I am at a loss. Please help! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" />

Update: Now that it's warmed up when I press on the gas it will go up to 2000 rpm. If I hold on the gas it will studder. BUT... when I let off the gas the idle will jump again up to 2000 rpm.

Any stored codes in the computer?

Might test the air flow meter, maybe some mud got in there:

Well it seems like a good idea to test the AFM but the flapper door won't move. Any other good ideas? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Thanks Roger. If I ever meet you I'm gonna give you a hug (and a 20)

Well, that is likely the problem then. Either free up the AFM door or put on a replacement. AFM is critical to engine operation. If it is stuck close, you'll never get any air into the engine.
