Need a Spot
Hey everyone. I installed the replacement motor with 96000 kms on it into the Kia about a month and a half ago. Well, driving to work friday morning it looked like it was getting hot on the guage. (started going above half...) I was about 500 Meters from work, so I continued there... Well, now the thing needs to crank over forever before it'll start, and it seems gutless when it's running.

It's a 2000 Sportage 4x4, with the DOHC 2.0 litre motor... I was so happy with this thing, but now I'm totally disappointed..

Any idea what I could check? Any ideas what would cause it to overheat like that? Are these things prone to real problems after a slight overheat? Would it be a warped head, head gasket, or melted rings???

Man.... I am disappointed... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

Anyways, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

could be the fan clutch or the thermostat. is the rad fld. low ? my Kia runs just a little 1/2 on the gage to over heat it would have to boil over or go all the way up the gage and stay there did you run it low on oil ? when you replaced it did you replace any parts when it was out T-belt water pump etc. ?

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Could be just a plugged up exhaust.

Like a plugged converter...

Run it around close to home one night until it gets hot.
Then run home and have a look underneath at the converter.
I've seen them glow red on other vehicles.
