What did you do with the wrecked Sporty? All the lift parts will fit on the 2 door. I hope you enjoy your Cherokee. I still miss my old TJ. Just try not to get too emberrassed when you get out wheeled by a Kia . I still have my 2-door Sportage but I bought a 1993 Jeep Cherokee a few weeks ago out of government surplus (cheep). I need a four door because I have a Smart Car on order that will become my daily driver so the Sportage will be going shortly. I have been driving a Sportage since 1996 and I will have a difficult time letting go of my Sportage. I really love the 2001 2-door Sportage.

cherokees are just fine and can be built into some pretty bad-ass rigs. they are pretty much the same size as the Sportage too, maybe a little wider, but also lower in ceiling height. they don't have a flat belly, though, but at least they're a little higher. and then there's the whole unibody thing, too, as long as you keep the suspension soft enough, twisting it up will stay below the floorboards mostly...

Congrats on the new ride!
I am getting a new vehicle also---Prolly a Rubicon.
I won't sell the Sportage though.
I like AXEMANS's (Wife's ) ride too.
But I think that one is a "All Wheel Drive" not sure though.
I initially liked the Suberu Baja---But it is way too small!
What did you do with all the things on your ex- Sportage?
The Liberty is more closer to the Sporty in my opinion.
My Wife has a Jeep Commander And I love the Power that the V-8 offers. Limited Visibility and to big in my opinion.
Show us all a photo of the new ride...............

If you transplanted the 4.0L Jeep I-6 into the Sportage now that would be a beast. My Cherokee came from the US Forest Service in KY. It has about 111K miles on it and runs like it is new.
I have to do some restoration because my wife says I am not allowed to have a vehicle that looks like a POS even if it is mechanically sound, but since I only spent $936 for it not counting driving to Land Between The Lakes, KY, and driving it back to Oklahoma, yes we drove it back without a problem I can spend a little money and elbow-grease to restore it.
One thing I have discovered is that there is a butt-load of stuff out ther for the Cherokees.

The insurance co kept the sporty......they paid me 200 less than what I bought it for 3 years and 70k ago. But I do miss the way it handled.......the Cheep handles....well, like a Jeep! But I do love that straight 6, it pulls like a freight train and will turn both back tires (it has posi!) quite well. It feels more like a 1970 station wagon on roids than a suv. But, its all real simple to work on. Ive already thought about the 3.5 lift....soon. But now I have to learn about 16" of road tire sizes,,,,or go back to 15" wheels. What do you guys think? Pics soon.
Drivin a heep, but my hearts still in a KIA!
