than he must have a TBI,usualy two main injectors I have seen them run rich in the past at the shop I worked at but that was on a 98 chevy suburban. To fix we had to replace an 02 sensor and update the trucks computer(recall). It could be an 02 sensor but its not tripping a code I have also seen that on a couple of dodges.

A 2000 Rodeo would have Multiport EFI regardless of powerplant. Fender badges at the Cardomain website would indicate this one has a V6 (3.2?).
O2 sensor(s), Engine Coolant Temp sensor, thermostat, leaking injectors, plugged cat/muffler, problems with MAF sensor, slightly misfiring spark plugs, dirty air filter, even dragging brakes, could cause poor mpg.
BTW was the speedo recalibrated for the larger tires? That'll drop it down some no matter how well the engine's running. You could just check mile-markers for 10 miles or so on the hiway to see how slow the odometer is running and calculate mpg accordingly.
Probably need to plug into an OBD-II diagnostic computer and see if there's anything abnormal.

I do burn oil pretty consistently. I would say I have to top off my oil tank about once a month. It never runs dry or anything, but I do find it a little lower than usual, So I just put in about half a pint or so every month.
I think when I replaced one of my CAT's a month ago, the mechanic did say that I needed new O2 Sensors, but I don't have the money to fix everything at once. Looks like I will have to deal with the poor gas mileage for a while. I am pretty sure that the extra weight of the armor, the larger tires and drag from roof rack all contribute to the poor gas mileage. (Also LEADFOOT) which I try to keep to a minimum.
Thank you everyone for your help.

The black ring on mine means it has been running. And that's always a good thing.
when looking for a container to hold drained brake fluid, find a container that is different from the beverage you are currently consuming.

When you're accelerating you use upto 50% more fuel than cruising, so take it easy and you'll get better mileage. I wouldn't go mesing with the 02 sensors unless you have a check engine light, these systems are pretty sophisticated. Your truck is probbaly fine.
