Getting the Wheeling Fever
Does the 1992 2.3l 2wd pickup have like a oil drain line for over flow or anything? The reason I ask is b/c There is a tube that is running down to the pass. side motor mount on my truck. It has alot of oil there. I thought I was the oil pan gasket but I think its from this tube. Is is supposed to be attached somewhere? I runs from under the intake manifold area down to the motor mount.

I was looking at it today and was wondering that if it were for a breather for the fuel pump guess I was wondering correct. The truck pumps fuel fine so would it need a new pump or just a seal?
Thanks

IF IT IS LEAKING, YOU WOULD NEED A NEW PUMP, AS THEY ARE NOT SERVICEABLE , THERE IS AN OIL RETURN PASSAGE IN THE CYL HEAD TO DIRECT OIL FROM THE CYL HEAD BACK DOWN TO THE BLOCK, THE CHAMBER WHERE THE PUMP SITS IS RIGHT IN THE PASSAGE , THIS LUBES THE PUMP, UN TILL THE SEAL IN THE PUMP DIES , JERRY

You shouldn't have to tear everything apart to get at the pump; just pull the right front tire off, lay back the wheelwell rubber mud shield and access the pump thru the wheelwell, from underneath the intake manifold.

Note that there will probably be a bit of residual oil coming out when you pull the pump, that's just whatever seeps past the fuel pump pushrod. There'll be less if you let the rig sit and drain any oil from the top end before you remove the pump.

You can look up the part # for your pump at http://www.isuzuparts.com/part_number.html

Re: what pump to get, be sure the one you select is a mechanical fuel pump for carbureted model. You will probably find other listings for electric in-tank fuel pumps, those are for EFI models.

It seems so hard to reach in there to remove it but I will try it that way. I looked there and on other sites and some will have a few that look diff and say mech and have my year of truck.
