Getting the Wheeling Fever
|
I swapped my 2.6 for a 2.3 diesel in my 89 D50. The diesel came out of a 86 Ranger and had the p/s pump attached running a serpentine belt. I left the this setup on (can't get V pulleys for the engine) and made up some fittings to connect to the stock box. Worked for a few days.
The pump was making a slight buzzing sound, and then it blew the steering shaft input seal on the box. (Ranger puts out 1500 psi. Too much for Dodge box?) Does anyone know where I can get a new seal? Or possibly a new box? I can't get either locally.
I guess I also have to change the pump back to the stock Dodge, which looks like I have to fire up the lathe to swap pulleys (gas has V, need serp. and the pulleys dont interchange) or is there a pump off of some type of other vehicle w/serp pulley that will work?
A day late, A dollar short, and A half a mile behind...
pass me that crescent hammer...
