Just my opinion, but it seems that sending that post to PT may have been a little quick on the trigger. The funds are being used to support a machine trades program in Ohio. More info is here: PBB Link. They have also had publication in trade / enthusiast print media, it's real. More so for me, it's real important. I run a machine shop and the lack of qualified and trained apprentices is really kicking my ass. My parts are 50/50 defense and commercial and all of my product on the military side is DEFENSIVE, saving lives. We operate our own program in my shop taking kids from underprivileged areas and send them to a high school / late teen machining program, then hire them at a lot more money than they can make at Burger King. They also learn pride in workmanship and pride in themselves. We have a 97% retention rate with these kids and they are getting good, damn good. Without additional funding, outside of the government funding, this program would be weak and my industry would be in big trouble. If my industry continues to suffer, YOU can bet your ass that air travel, aircraft maintenance, military dominance and product quality in general will suffer as well... Anyhow, this isn't just about me and my little program here in PHX, at the end of the day there is a serious shortage of skilled craftsmen. OK, off my soapbox of a little tiny industry and the woes we face, I would think that we would be willing to support what is essentially a charity or a non-profit for a good cause. Kicking old dogs and laughing at old people falling isn't a really good reputation.

Well.. That was me who moved it. I thought about maybe moving it to the vendors section, but decided PT. Possibly Joe can make a decision, and we can re-post, or move it to Somewhere and maybe sticky it.
It sure would be a good idea for someone who wanted to do this in the future to contact an admin, and ask. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

That post and other like it should be moved to the "vendor" area.
I am all for supporting those types of activities where we can promote and education opportunity that in turn supports recreational access.
By all means, we need to be aware of these activities that are for the "greater public good" and be mindful to provide a certain amount of publicity.
There is a PR starting to make the rounds where Skylift is doing a raffle jeep. The proceeds are reportedly going to support access issues.
With out a place to play, why build a 4x4????

Well.. That was me who moved it. Not calling anyone out. Just bringing up for discussion amongst the group. If the group decides to keep it dead, so be it... On the other hand, maybe the brain surgeons who were talking crap in the thread could have taken the time to do a little more research instead of instantly going to guns and MAYBE could have reported it as a sticky. It's happened that way in the past. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> By all means, we need to be aware of these activities that are for the "greater public good" and be mindful to provide a certain amount of publicity. Yep. There is a PR starting to make the rounds where Skylift is doing a raffle jeep. The proceeds are reportedly going to support access issues.

Well, it's in PT now and there ain't no moving it back out.
This is an example where a post should be made here in the Mods forum, asking for the thoughts of the team, before taking action.
Ironically, Matt Peters - the shop teacher - is a friend of mine. What he has done is pretty radical.

There was a raffle post for a 2008 Jeep about a month ago in the Trailrides/Events forum. I wasn't sure where it should have gone, so I was happy to leave it there. Should I move that to the vendors forum now? The link is currently here: http://www.4x4wire.com/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=1048693

Shoot; we're not on their linky list. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> http://www.schooljeep.com/Links.htmlI dunno about that other one. Drawing isn't until like next May, IIRC. I think if we're going to allow vehicle raffles that we should also have the disclaimer that the Wire won't be responsible for ticket holders contacting the posters, or however that would work, should something go awry.
