Should I weld them on or bolt them on?

I was thinking about bolting them using the stock holes in the tower through the frame. Then also making a gusset that would be welded to the tower and bolt into the empty IFS threaded holes where the control arm/torsion bar used to be(beside the motor mount).

I just figured it would be easier to remove if I ever wanted to change my setup.

You have to weld up that guesset anyway... I'd just weld them on. For the time saving and added strength, if yo uwanted to remove them later, it'll just be a cutoff wheel and grinder.
I'm never a fan or drilling holes in the frame. JMO.

While I don't run the Ford shock towers, my front shock mounts have been bolted on for about 10 years now:
http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/4R_suspension-III.shtml#ShockTowers2.0

A pair of bolts through the frame and brackets clamp the bracket to the frame and then a pair of self-tapping bolts hold the two support towers tight to the frame (used to have a problem with squeaking there before adding those two bolts):

And I have had the brackets on and off maybe a half dozen times over the years, making improvements and modifications for different body lift heights and axle locations. Have to pull them off again here in the next few weeks to take some final measurements.

Depends on the frame and where you want to mount them.

Personally, I'd bolt them. Had this on my 85 4Runner and it worked great. Welded them on my 86 xcab and they eventually tore off (though they were welded on top of the frame rather than on the outside due to need).

I have nothing important to say.
