It's been so long since I have even visited this site and I'm not sure how many of you are still around. My rodeo has seen better days recently as my daily worklife took my wrenching time away from the rodeo.

Recently my tensioner pulley seized up and I was lucky enough to be able to replace it (along with a new belt). I thought I would be back on the road, but I noticed that the battery and brake lights would flicker on if the rpm's went above 2500. I checked the voltage and noticed that the volts would start out at between 13 - 14, but then drop to 12 or lower when the rpms got to 2500. I took it to two different parts stores and they both told me it was the alternator, but either of them had it in stock. I did some searching on alldata and found a recall notice (Camp # 9804L2)titled Battery Discharge Service.

My manufacture date is May 98. The recall issue date is March 98. Would my truck have already undergone the recall service (which was to upgrade the alt from 60 amps to 70). I know I don't want to slap a $190 alt from the local parts stores with their lifetime warranty and lifetime of changes. If my truck is covered under this recall then I might save myself the $$$ and get a genuine isuzu part.

Seems like a dealership should be able to look up the VIN to see if the work was already done. Just a guess.
