Getting the Wheeling Fever
I think the teeth on my window crank are striped, I can roll the window almost all the way up to about 3" from the top then it just slips so I push it up with my hands, but if any vibration happens it will fall back down. I have had this problem with every Toyota I have owned 2 1st gen & 3 2nd gen pickups. what makes these window crank systems fail so often. These gears seem to be weak so is there any way to fix them stronger, I don't want to fix theme with stock parts if they are prone to failure. any suggestions would help thnx

Roll Me Over
Common problem with the earlier Toyota's, especially those w/o A/C. There isn't a lot you can do to reinforce the gears, no way to harden them. You could fab up new ones out of steel plate, but that isn't going to be quick/easy. Fortunately you can still get replacement window regulators, check JCWhitney.
