How do I get the intake out of the truck?

I have the wiring harness running between the runners and the outer flange, where the plenum bolts to the intake. Its loose from the block, but the harness is keeping me from getting it out of the truck.

Any tips for this situation? I would appreciate some advice.

Thanks,
Taylor

Did you remove that 6 mm allen set bolt near the t'stat housing? Commonly overlooked.

I thought about it today, and I think the harness thats trapping the intake is probably for the oxygen sensor. It was late last nite and I just called it quits for the nite.

It just suxx that someone would put the harness thru the intake instead of around it.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
It comes from the factory routed thru the manifold.

You need to disconnect the harness and pull it through the intake.

Disconnect the O2 sensor, the switches on the tranny, the starter, oil pressure and knock sensor.

Make sure you remove the battery first.

Disconnecting the starter is the hardest part. after that is done everything else comes out in a couple minutes.

If you haven't changed your fuel filter lately, replace it now.

Take care.

I ran into this when I yanked my engine for rebuild.
It was clearly goin gto be such a pain to get the whole harness out that I decided to just lave the intake in the engine bay. I unbolted the upper plenum so the two parts were at least loosse/floppy, and folded 'em back against the fender and bungeed into place there. Held fine and out of the way whiel everything else came out.

The hardest part about it is disconnecting the starter. After disconnecting the starter, everything else takes less than 10 minutes.

It looks harder than it really is.
