i have a 97 honda passport (rodeo) that looks, runs, and drives beautiful! problem is with 112,000 miles on it the frame is soft on the slope right behind the front tires also a little soft right where my trailer hitch mounts. i still pull an 18'x8' trailer with 5 quads with no problem. just wondering if anyone has had any success fixing these spots and how much longer the thing has on this earth. if it can't be fixed i will be entertaining offers. any advice will be greatly appreciated

If you've got the skills or no someone that does ($) then it can be fixed. IMHO, I wouldn't drive it, but if you do, I certainly wouldn't pull a trailer, let alone that big of a trailer, until you get it fixed.

i'm done with that trailer for the season, so i won't be pulling it anymore. the rust in the rear is not a big deal yet but now that winter is here it will probably get their. the rust behind the front tires is on the outside of the rail only, and i've heard horror stories about these frames and once they start to rust they basically come apart from the inside. this thing is a 97 that is beautiful inside and out and other then brakes and oil changes i've never had to turn a wrench on the thing and i hate to give up on it

Body Damage is Cool
If its just rust , it can be fixed , if its rot , find another frame. The truck I got the body off of had major frame rot , so bad the frame snapped. The good frame I used had a little surface rust , and 1 spot on the back was rusted through , but I cut that piece out and welded in another.I also coated the frame with the rust stuff that shipyards used , then coated over that with a rubberized coating while I had just the frame in front of me.The frame should now outlast the rest of the truck <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />
