I have had NO previous cold starting problems. Yesterday morning after sitting all nite at 25 degrees I started the montero and within 30 seconds or less put it in R to back up. it stalled. I could not restart it. Put some gas line anti freeze in it. Still could not start. Just cranks and thats it.

I shot some ether into the air cleaner and got it started. Ran fine all day and starts right up when warm.

So, this morning I go to start it and the same thing happened. will start on ether but that is it.

Got to be something simple.

Help please so I dont have to keep using starting fluid!

well, have you checked around for loose wires and such?
get out your multi meter and read the K-ohms on the coolant sensor and air sensor...

The fuel pump and/or filter might be suspect.

So, I'm trying to think through how this works... To me it sounds like a fuel pump or regulator problem, because he states it will light off fine with starter fluid. Is the coolant temperature sensor inhibiting the fuel flow somehow? Obviously, I haven't gone and looked at the FSM manual yet to trace out the circuit <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cyclops.gif" alt="" />

yes it does ... the sensor bone is connected to the injector bone, sorta...

Might also be simply bad gasoline

My point was to get GP to help himself by posting some more info than "dang thing wont start"

If anyone has the "no start" link, that would be cool

Cant speak for FE's reasoning. He is one of those who are making their own computer control system...'nuff said about that.

The caption for this claims it includes no-start and driveability...
