I have also decided to take a trailer up and bring it back home to work on. The logistics of moving parts and tools and working in the cold didn't sound like the right solution.
This is the first time in 18 years (and 194000 miles) that the Amigo didn't bring me home, so this was kind of a new thought process to go through. It took me a while to process the info and come up with the "right" plan of action.

I'm wondering how many of us have killed an isuzu axle HOUSING? Let me know what you find at the junkyard, as I will need to replace the rear housing on my buggy at some point soon. Just inboard of the upper link tower the axle tube is twizzler'd about 15*

No, no, no, Dallas. You are the president of "I lit my tail-housing on fire" club. Remember? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

That's a transmission/tcase problem.

I bent a housing and crunched where the U-bolts tighten a few years ago... the axles were still true, though.

I will probably drop the spring pack and take a better look at the housing there but if the axle slides right in, it will get bolted and sealed up quick.
I don't like looking for problems. My motto is "Break it Better"!! I like to leave no doubt about what a problem is.
