Getting the Wheeling Fever
I want to buy myself a timing light and I wondered what people thought as far as brands, where to buy etc. All suggestions welcome. I'm located in south west British Columbia.

I got one like this from JC Whitney:

Has a nice digital RPM and advance readout. Clips onto the #1 plug wire. The advance feature is nice as you can use the easier to see TDC mark for setting the timing instead of the smaller one at 5BTDC (22R/RE) and if you want to vary the timing outside 0 or 5 degrees, you don't have to guess how many degrees you are setting it to.

that looks alot like the one that I have.
it also helps to find the timing marks and paint it with white out.

Need a Spot
Unless you plan to use it a lot, like a shop. Then any
cheapy inductive style light will work. Timing don't move once you set it properly. I have a Snap-on light but bought it at a yard sale - looks a lot like 4crawlers.

I buy good tools and test equipment at pawn shops - haggle with them an you often get a deal ! I bought a ball joint seperator tool this morning for $10.00 - they had no idea what it was. I typically act interested but also like I could care less - it usually works for me. Oh and this just in - cash talks.

That one 4crawler shows is the Equus/Innova brand one. Check them out here: http://www.iequus.com/products.php?category_id=1_20 I bought one of theirs also, and have been happy with it. Search Amazon for "Equus timing" and you can get the $200 model for $119. Hope this helps.
