Does anyone here know if the 1.3 liter engine in an 1987 Samurai is an inteference motor?What I mean is if the t-belt breaks will it bend valves?I looked on the Suzuki board on here and it is DEAD.

Not positive but I think that any over-head cam engine - is an interference engine.


Just an OLD hippy with lot's of experience !

Over head cams have nothing to do with being interference.

Its just how the engine was designed.

Yes my LS400 is dual overhead cams and non-interference but my IS300 is overhead cams and interference.

sorry this is so late- you've probably figured this out already.
i have a sidekick w/1.3L and it is NOT an "interference" engine.
break a belt?


'94 "tracker", with some parts from suzi the psychic.
other modifications made, with more to come.
some intentional.
suzitoo should get me fishing.
