I have a 2005 4Runner limited 4wd v6 and received the service reminder in the mail. It's asking for these things that I have not done, but question them. Can anyone let me know if they really need to be done at 30,000 and if not when would be the best time? I only use the 4wd once in a while and mostly stay on the street to/from work... (daily driver). Toyota wants about $200 to do all of these things below w/parts. I'm used to doing things myself, but if it requires special tools I'm out of luck right now.
1. Replace non-plat plugs (can this also be done at home w/the average tools) What plugs are best?
2. Repalce cabin air filter (can this also be done at home w/the average tools)
3. Re-torque propeller shaft bolts (can this also be done at home w/the average tools)
Thanks for any help. Is there a website with diagrams for #2 or 3?

Lookie here linky AND- there are FSM's sticky'd over in the Taco section; check 'em out for what you need. There's a lot you can do yourself.

Thanks for the info! All is well. I had NGK on the driver side and Denso on the passenger from factory. Took about 50 min to do. Driver side is a little harder, but all is well.

Yeh- the driver side is designed for small, dainty Japanese hands.

Yeah I could see that. Those clips were not the easiest to get off on that side. Still though, it's not as bad as some I have done. You do need about 14'' or more on your socket set and make sure you tape them together if you don't have one long extender.
