I beg to differ Michael, on a couple of points. First, the Holley and stock injectors ARE NOT interchangeable. Second, people ran Holleys on 2.8s successfully before we (I) put the first 3.4 in a Trooper. However, I sort of remember you saying that your Holley came with no directions, so you just matched wiring colors. If you, that is your problem. The Isuzu and Chevys use different wiring color standards. There is a very old article that was done by Sean Michael when he put the first Holley on a 2.8. I just checked and the article is still on the net. The article is at LINKYou will probably have to cut and paste that URL. The article contains the correct wiring connections to run the Holley with the Isuzu wiring. Good luck.

Yup, that's the exact article I used to install the Holley, and like I said it ran fine until just recently. One of the injectors was leaking, not sure how long, which fouled the plugs. I'm guessing that is what fouled them. I used that wiring diagram to install it, but just for arguments sake, would it work if I DID somehow wire it wrong?

No, it probably wouldn't run well, if at all. I have gone through a number of Holley injectors over the years. The pattern finally stopped when I carefully redid all my connectors, paying particular attention to waterproofing the connectors. After going through at least 4 sets of injectors between 2000 and 2004, I haven't had a single problem since 2004 when I redid all the connectors.
By the way, do not drive your vehicle with one injector operating only marginally. As you no doubt know, each injector feeds one bank of cylinders. Running with a bad injector on one side leads to extremely lean conditions on that bank and resultant burned valves. The worst thing in my case was that the engine ran fairly well at low speeds and only showed the exteme missing at freeway speeds under loads (i.e., climbing the Cascades).

Mine was running fine so I don't think I wired it wrong, just had one injector leaking. The injector is of to be rebuilt, which will take a real long time over the holidays. When i installed the TBI i soldiered the connections and shrink wrapped them, I don't imagine them breaking down. While I've got it parked for the next couple weeks anyone have any other suggestions I do for maintenance? PS checked the oil and haven't seen oil that diluted with fuel in a long time, not that was unintentional that is. Guess it was REALLY flooded.

Hmmmm....I was under the mistaken impression that the Holly unit was similar to the Chevy 4.3 TBI. Maybe it was more that either one worked and the Holly really offered nothing over the stock 3.4 TBI?
As far as injectors, I thought the 4.3's were really too big and those people who put the stock 4.3 TBI's on their 2.8's had to use their 2.8 injectors. But, I could be wrong. I'm not the resident v6 expert around here.

Hey Jim, I've got a question for you. I couldn't sleep tonight and as I'm laying in bed thinking about my pooched Trooper I thought of this. The Holley is a much larger bore than stock, but without boring the intake to match wouldn't that cause fuel to condense around the edge of the manifold that is now in the way of the Holley fuel/air flow? The condensed fuel would then just drip into the intake manifold and could lead to flooding? Maybe while I'm waiting for my injector I'll pull the intake manifold off and have it bored out to match the Holley.

I don't disagree with your theory, but I ran my Holley for well over a year when I first got it without boring the intake.

Okay so I had the injector seals replaced at a shop, replaced all the plugs and the fuel filter. It's running great again. Took it through some light wheel'n in the snow and now I need to replace the exhaust. The muffler broke off on some icy bumps, the exhaust system I new was going to need work but I was hoping it would last until the spring. It's pretty much rusted to crap from the cat back. It's got to go through aircare this spring again and I think it's due for a new cat anyway. I'm thinking of doing a dual exhaust system, anyone here done that before? I was thinking one high flow cat and then dual from there back. My trooper is a money pit.
