My brother recently purchased an automatic 22r powered '87 toyota pickup. He was wondering what the pwr button did.(machanically speaking) I assumed that it must change line pressure and/or shift points. Anyone know more about the toyota automatic?

It opens the valve for the nitrous, supercharging the squirrel under the hood . Just kiddin, it changes the shift points like ya said. My 3.0 with the AT is the same way.

Lets the engine rev to a higher RPM before it shifts.

I love that button, it creates an enormous amount of humor in the rig while wheeling. Uh oh Bob, steep hill coming up, better hit the power button, need every 1/10 HP we can get out of this thing. Everyone, hold onto your hats, its about to get interesting.
I love the LED on the dash going from Green (nomal) to yellow (power). Caution, extreme power increase available, caution is advised. Lock in the five point harness.
Just tacks the motor up a bit more into the power band and I think, my perception, not a fact, it changes the locking/unlocking of the lock up torque converter. Kind of a let down, I expected more.....

(ECT)... i dont think it changed my TC lockup (99' 5vzfe) but if u want it to it will shift a bit higher (i find it downshifts a bit sooner when weaving in to traffic) but that's about it. now, if i hit that button and a supercharged turned on
