Are there benefits to hp or mpg with an AMC head?
2000 amigo ironman, 4" suspension 1" body lift on 33's with 4.77 gears, tera lows, and no-slip locker.

Well, sorta indirectly. Usually you are replacing a head that is cracked or burned and either of those problems cause problems with both HP and MPG.
Other than that, we are talking about a 2.6. Words like HP an MPG really don't come into play.

I would have to agree. There's no gain, other than to get back what was lost due to a damaged head.
If you'd like to see some of the damage that can be done, look at my pictures, below, in the Trooper 2.6 section. The original head had cracks and burned valves. I couldn't keep a head gasket in it more than about a year. To the best of my knowledge that engine never overheated.
