Getting the Wheeling Fever
Trying to find transmission parts for a 87 raider KM-145 5spd. In need of 5th gear(md703980), countershaft gear(md703763). Both Dodge and Mitsubishi say they are no longer available. If anyone has ideas where to source these parts from please let me know. it would get greatly appreciated.
thanks in advance....

Did you try MitsubishiParts.net as well? The fifth gear is the same as for the StarQuests. Don't know for sure on the countershaft gear. The main difference between the two is that the truck has lower 1st and 2nd.

Might try sourcing for the cars' tranny. Sounds dumb, but I have seen it work. Also, try the SQC board to see if anyone has extras there.

You are the the man!!! Mitsubishi and Dodge failed to come through. Called Drivetrain com and the say the can get 5th gear set and the needle bearing. Parts should be here in a couple days. Really nice to deal with and certainly more knowledgable than dealer on transmission parts. Guess the final test is,do I end up with correct parts......Not trying to be a ad person for them, buy its a real pleasure to have someone thats appears to know what they are doing help you resolve your problem.
Maybe someday soon I'll get it back. Hate to say it but I miss driving it.........

thanks again......

For those who have bought as many parts, as many of us have, there are plenty stories about telling the dealers things they don't know, and you'd think they should. Hell, at one point on my turbo swap, I was in the back room of the stealer with the microfiche looking for Starion part numbers. (The car is not in WinCaps for some reason.)

Glad you found your parts. Nice job Nathan!

BTW, you also should get a new not for the end of the output shaft. Also, be sure to read up on installing it, and do yourself a HUGE favor by using Locktite Red on the nut. They have a reputation for backing off after a while. Too bad no one told the jokers who rebuilt mine when the PO had it. I found this all out the hard way at about 70MPH on I-90 and 150 miles from home.

Search my ID and/or Kevin_C for when the nut backed off, and I lost fifth, the bearings, etc.- include tranny in the search. It must have been two years ago now. I hillybillied mine back together as I had a couple extra trannies at the time.
