Frankly, he asked for it.

His last post is in PT.

He had some BS in his sig, or actually he was signing his post with it, about some college football coach. Whatever it was, it was not appropriate. I edited it out and PM'd him.

He apparently decided that tugged on his short hairs, so he flew off th handle.

So, in the spirit of Christmas, he got his wish.

Actually, I am not sure if I got him banned.

Can someone flip the switch if it did not take?

Thanks

You banned him.

This is a case where some involvement here before banning would have been a good idea. Whether to get some input from other mods or ask me or RandyH to jump in, I would prefer we go that route. I have no idea what happened other than the single thread in PT, and I don't recall this guy being a problem.

I appreciate that all Mods are on the spammers and axing them quickly, but let's not let the ban stick get out of control please.

Normally, yes. But in this case, I have to respectfully disagree.

This douche bag decided he was going to fly off the handle in a manner that was extremely inappropriate. Whether or not people act like it, we are all adults around here and we know what is appropriate social behavior towards others.

He made the choice to type at the end of two of his posts some crap about some football coach who did not win enough games or got fired or got hired. Frankly, I don't care as it was a) not appropriate for our forum and b) so inane that it was only decipherable by him and or other people who had their panties in a wad over whatever it was. Regardless it had NOTHING to do with Isuzus, 4x4'ing, or even vehicles at all. What it did have was the potential for two people to get in some pissing match over some stupid sports thing.

Here is a LINK to the supposed load of college football crap that MountineerIsuzu1 is so butthurt over. I cannot believe that people were making death threats towards this football coach. Society is officially unraveling and has now hit rock bottom. But, I digress from this instance.

Frankly, it was such a minor thing I did not even keep the PM from when I asked him to drop it, as I usually do. Nothing about it at that point raised a red flag and made me think about covering my butt.

But, it seems that this was not an "oops, I thought it would be funny" kind of thing. Or, oops, I went a little far. This guy has some kind of serious disturbance about his favorite football team that he choose to make this his last stand.

Instead of replying to my PM, he decided to air it in the forum. Not only that, he was a real ***** about it. He has been around long enough to know that is a no-no. He also made the other no-no in the form of a personal attack towards me. Now, my hide is well tanned from over the years of being ranted at by the narrow-minded, but that does not make it acceptable. He proceeded to feel that adding another comment to his post, would cause Isuzu-Talk would change his world. In the end, this proved to be too much for this mouthbreather and he requested to be banned. No problem.

So, no. This was not a knee jerk reaction on my behalf. I think I have been around here long enough to show when I do have questions, or situations, or whatever, I show up here or on the backside with the other Isuzu mods.

This was pretty clear cut. This was not time for some re-education time with him, or to see what his feelings are on the topic. I appreciate times when the Admin wants to be involved and the times when you do step in, but frankly this jackass has no place in our forum. He proved it and then he asked to be disinvited from our little party. I am rather surprised over his reaction, but in the end, I don't really care. There are bigger things in the world that worrying about some dude from WV who might be upset about something that went down on the internet.

If there was some vital item I missed that would have changed the ultimate outcome of him departing ways with the Wire, please let me know. I know swinging the banhammer is something we do rarely and usually only after lots of thought and discussion, but we have also spent very little time on those who choose to hit the self-destruct button.

After reading the full story, I'm not unwilling to throw a few more spades of dirt on this guy's e-grave. I'm certainly not running the shovel in the other direction (besides, as you know, I'm more of an expert at digging my own holes deeper around me ).

I do think Joe has a decent point that next time around, we should build up more backstory, if for no other reason than to be ready in case this particular mole shows up for another whack.

... the rest of us need to be able to pick up the thumping stick in your absence. You can't have all the fun! On a more practical basis, it also helps us look back as necessary, further down the road, just in case you mistakenly stitch your mouse-clicking finger into the next critter from which you're removing reproductive parts.

BTW, this is the bane of middle management (you know, this career I've backed into)... documenting bad behavior, in case I accidentally step in front of a bus. Of course, this is the type of thing that tempts me to willfully step in front of that very bus.

Whoops. Sorry for making this all about me... back to the topic: MountaineerIsuzu1 has executed acts of douch-baggery -- especially going off on moderators (I have especially low tolerance for that). You PM-ed him, he over-reacted, and he picked THIS hill to die on, and then dragged it out into the open forum, with a personal attack, just for kicks... then he returned to beat on the dead horse, and asked that we ban him. Back to the bus metaphor -- he revved it up, sent it motoring down a hill, and then made every effort to run to get in front of it.

Truth.

Truth, as well.

Next time let's shoot for something between.
Get in touch with the middle manager in yourself.

Get in touch with the middle manager in yourself.

There is some reason I have been in school for so damn long. Now, what was it...oh yeah, a strong desire to not have to touch my middle manager. Well, unless it is a Friday night and I've got a few in me.

I do have to say, my actions on this one were not in a Lone Ranger mentality. In THIS case, it just seemed like the right thing to do. Trust me, we've spent enough time beating dead equids in the past between ourselves and with people like Smiley that I am well versed in that dance.

Don't worry, I am sure we will dance again in the future.

Maybe we can touch middle managers, too.

Michael
