Getting the Wheeling Fever
I have a 93 ZJ with the double cardigan u joint at the t case. Mine was making a wierd squeaking noise and looks like it could use a rebuild, has anyone taken this thing apart? Also I have the front drive shaft out for now and parked on a small incline, and the jeep after about 1 hour or so it had rolled back about 10 feet, anyone ever seen this? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Tim

First guess on the rolling would be the park brake isn't adjusted properly.

Body Damage is Cool
You can adjust the park brake by either adjusting the ratchet assymbly in the cab, or at the splitter in the rear under the body.

Hope you don't mind a little correction. It's cardan. Cardigan is a sweater.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
At the time of these replies I hadn't set the parking brake, If I apply the brake, it works. The u-joints in the double CARDAN (not the cardigan sweater ) the ball in there is worn. Someone on another board gave me a link that shows about fixing it and it even list part numbers.

Thanks to everyone for your help.

The reason it rolled is probably because it has a center differential (if it is a full time 4wd transfer case) with the front drive line removes it allowed the rear to turn. Even tho it was in park, the differential was still allowed to move. The parking brake is the only way to keep it from rolling because it stops the wheel itself from turning.

Need a Spot
I am working on a front driveshaft rebuild at present. Do you have the link to the rebuild information you found? Took mine apart and it appears to be a simple replacement of the three u joints. Chilton manual said the the rearmost joint could not be owner repaired!?

I just fix it, the kid drives.
