just recently got an 88 trooper in stock form. looking to find out what the largest size tire i can use on the stock rim . i can tweak the torsion bars. i really don't want to use a lift . thanx for any info
there will always be a muddy spot in my driveway

no , for the time being i'm trying to keep it as much of a daily driver as i can <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/baby.gif" alt="" /> i have other toys for crawling but like to make it as useable as possible.
there will always be a muddy spot in my driveway

Realistically? No lift and no cutting? You are probably left with 31's (31x10.50). You might get away with something like a skinny 32, but it would require some test fitting.
If you are not going to do anything to fit them, that is about as good as it gets. You can't really just tweek the torsion bars in the front, without lifting the rear. Well...you could, but it would look, kinda dumb.

after doing a little more searching i think your right and i will stay with a 31 until more funds come in to do some more mods thanx for the input.
there will always be a muddy spot in my driveway

I have 33x10.5 on 7" stock wheels: no lift, no cutting, no rubbing.
been running this for a while now on my 88, a few other folks have also done this. there was a guy with 33x12.5 on the 6" rims (+offset) and he said he had minimal contact. looked goofy but guess it worked, so I'd imagine 10.5 tires on the 6" rims would work too.
I have a 33x9.5 spare on a 6" steel stocker and it clears up front lock to lock.
