Need a Spot
Well it's been a grand holiday. I just finished replacing the waterpump (haven't had that much fun since my brother got eaten by the hogs) and front rotors on my 94 rodeo. Now I have no hot air from the heater and the drivers side hub makes a buzzing/ginding noise and does not engage. I can live w/o the heat, but I sure need that 4th wheel to keep me from driving around in circles. Please, for the love of all that is good and beautiful, share your wisdom before I take it out to the pasture and put it out of it's misery.

Check the coolant level to make sure its full; and check that the thermostat is opening. If both of those check out, its probably due to air in the cooling system that you need to bleed out.

That's the logical answer but what I can't figure out is....since I lost a great deal of fluid by taking the waterpump off, fluid that was inside the block, when and how would the thermostat open if there is no fluid in the block? The other thing is this, I just ran the thing for fifteen minutes in a heated garage (yes I have the shopvac hose on the tailpipe going out the door) and it got to normal operating temp but not over. The top radiator hose is under allot of pressure. I'm starting to wonder if I have the thermostat in backwards. Which way does the business end of that thing go anyway? Toward the front or back? I always thought the big end went toward the block.

Take the hub off and see if the snap ring came off the end of the cv shaft. If thats the problem and you are lucky its a matter of putting the clip back on. If you are unlucky it ate up the end of the shaft and you will have to replace the cv shaft, or get some manual hubs (better option) since they use a different part of the shaft.
