First off I want to say thanks to all the forum members who have helped me out during my first couple of weeks with my Monti. Little by little, i got the Monti running a whole lot better with the front suspension that is! Everything else about my Monti seems to be okay other then typical wear and tear. Today, I changed the sparks plugs using Bosch Platnium, I also replaced the spark plug wires, rotor and distributor cap. The Monti was running smooth as it was and it feels stronger with the tune up! Some additional questions I have are:
I was unable to figure out the problem with the horn. I checked, and the actual horn is still in place in the front grill section, and it has two different connections on one side of the horn. I pulled the plugs, and cleaned the connections. I also pulled the cover off of the steering wheel, and frankly I had no idea what i was looking for, or for that matter looking at! Help!
My front wipers are running very, very slow, regardless if whether I put them in low, or hi speed. they do not work at all in the first position which is the intermedent (sp?) position. I was thinking about finding the entire wiper and cruise control mechanism from a pick a part Monti, but wanted to ask if its easy to remove the existing one. Or does anyone have any other suggestions, or something I should clean or try before replacing the mechanism?
I currently have 31x10.5x15 BF Goodrich AT on my 90' Monti. I want to replace the BF's with an all season hwy or AT tires since I am using my Monti more for highway driving and will probably do minimal off roading. My question is this, I have a set of OEM 15" steel rims off of a 1988 Monti I used to own. Will my 31" BF's fit the 15" OEM steel rims, and will the OEM 15" steel rims off of the 88'Monti fit my 90 Monti without having to make any modifications. This way I can have two sets of tires/rims.
Lastly, where can I find the OEM tire jack and tools for my 90 Monti. These items are missing from mine.

My 88's wipers ran slow when I first got it and I was able to spray (or drip from a soaked rag) PB Blaster on all the pivot points on the linkage (wasn't easy working through the two access holes, one is the motor plate, the other is behind the battery, but you can get your arm up in there). Helped ALOT when I did it. They are starting to slow down again though so I may bite the bullet and pull the whole linkage assembly and clean and grease everything properly this time. I've also heard that cleaning the ground contacts for the motor can help.
The tire jack should be in the compartment in the back, to the passenger side when in the back door for the SWB and it's under the passenger side rear seat on the LWB.

My wipers don't work real well either, I was looking at the motor area while the wipers were ...wiping and the whole plate the motor is attatched to shifts around a lot. The bolts SEEM to be screwed down tight though. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> As far as lubing the linkage, what is the proper lube for everything? How about the washers? Where is the pump motor located? Mine just stopped working, when I push the wash button nothing happens.

Don't know about the horn but I remember they are wired strange. Yes the horns do fail so try a replacement. 31" tires fit fine. Squirt some WD40 down the shaft, coming out of the cowl, that turns the wipers.
87 Raizer, 4.3V6, Mod TH700R4,231CHD, detroit rear and LSD front, bouncy seats, 2" lift and 32x15 BFG MT tires.

I was going to look at that once I got mine removed. Hopefully I can determine what was used by the factory because the FSM doesn't say. More then likely I'll use just a few dabs of white lithium grease or wheel bearing grease. I'm sure after 20 years the factory grease has just gummed up on me and a thorough cleaning and relube will clear it up. The washer pump is located under the washer fluid tank, you can jump 12v to it to see if it runs and maybe it's just your switch that went bad (though more then likely it's the pump).

thanks guys. Its not clear to me where you are suggesting I spray some WD40 for the wipers. I tried to remove the wiper arm itself thinking that maybe once I remove the arm, and then the plastic cover I could spray down in this section, but I couldn't get neither of my wiper arms to come off. I took off the bolt, but they would not budge, and I have taken this type of wiper off before so I know they come off. So i sprayed some WD40 on the threads, and will try again in a day to remove the wiper arms. Regarding my horn, I noticed on a junked Monti, that there are two horns in the front grill section. My Monti only has one horn, and I found the two other plugs for the second horn just dangling there. I took the steering wheel cover off and noticed the wiring, but I am not familiar with electrical components and have no idea "what a hot wire means", and what cautions I need to take before touching or removing any of th wires. I need to fix this because its very frustating and not to mention dangerous not having a horn. Any suggestion on where I can just buy another horn assembly, and if I do can it be installed in the steering wheel, or will it have a button installed somewhere else on the dash. Regarding the driver side power window motor (black box near the bottom of the driver door). Can this box be opened, and maybe I can clean the internal connections, or should I not attempt to do this. The reason I ask is because all my windows work, but the driver side window works intermedently, but if I move the wires, or tap on the door panel where the box is it will work, but then stop again. Also, when my driver side window does roll down, it makes a very loud clicking noise, as though the arm mechanism is hitting against something in the door. I looked and checked, but couldn't see what it may be hitting against. Thanks again for all the help!

Is yours a long wheel base 4 door or a short wheel base 2 door?
For the 4 door, the jack and jack handle are in the compartment under the rear seats. For the 2 door the jack in in the rear compartment and the handle is under the rear seat. Did you already look there?
If they are missing about the only place you might find one is from someone here, or from a used parts place like car-part.com or msrecycling.com

I need to fix this because its very frustating and not to mention dangerous not having a horn. A check of my Haynes does even show a horn circuit. My FSM does show the horn circuit and it is probably the same as yours. There is no horn relay, it is only direct wired (always hot) through the ignition switch to the horn switch in the steering wheel. When the horn is pressed the switch grounds out and the horn blows. The ignition switch needs to be turned to ACC or higher for the horn to work. The two horns comprise a high pitch and low pitch. If you replace from a junk yard I would try to get the pitch that is missing. There is a 10amp fuse in the circuit. It looks as if one horn should work even though the other is disconnected as they are wired in parallel. I would use a 12v test light and turn the ignition on, then ground the test light and touch the horn switch to see if you get the light to go on. One side of the switch will be hot (12v) the other ground. If the light lights then the fuse and circuit are ok and the problem is the horn(s). If the light does not work then trace the fuse first.
