i have a 90 wrangler with 258 and 5 speed. was driving home and jeep started to spuder like i was out of gas took out of gear and it shut off would not start back up for about 20 min start back up but would not go in gear but made sound like tapping only with clutch in and tryn to get in gear. can someone help??? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

hmmm seems to be seperate problems.. the running out of gas is one problem and the tapping sound seems to be another.
Not starting for 20 minutes could be a coil that cooled down and allowed the starting.. Perhaps even the spark box..

he cutting out problem could also be vapor lock, which tends to happen more if your fuel filter is partially clogged. Vapor lock happens when the fuel line gets hot enough to bubble the gasoline, and then it will start again when things cool off. But I've also had that problem caused by a bad ignition coil, and by a bad magnetic pickup coil in the distributor.
