My nephew's headlight switch went out in his rodeo. For now, he has removed the speedo cover and the switch itself, and I am trying to check the wiring before we put a new switch in.

I've identified all the wires and can jump the circuits as follows:

Hot lead from headlight relay - jump to the black wire (ground??) and the headlights work. hi/low beam switch works as well.

Violet wire coming from the Number 1 fuse - jump to the green/red wire and the parking lights all come on.

Violet wire coming from the number 1 fuse - jump to the red/green wire and the dash lights illuminate.

The wiring diagram I am using is from the autozone site: http://www.autozone.com/az/cds/en_us/0900823d/80/18/46/17/0900823d80184617/repairInfoPages.htm

in that diagram, it shows the red/green dash light wire and the green/red parking light wires connected together. However, if I try to jump both wires to the violet hot lead, the parking lights come on but the dash lights do not work?????

Can anyone tell me if I am doing something wrong?? I'd hate to get a new switch and put everything back together and not have the dashlights work.

All help appreciated!
