>>>*Well, it got us this time. Our outside storage/laundry shed used to have a roof.

Now the roof is in the middle of our hayfield. I went out and gathered up what I could and stacked it on the downwind side but the temperature is dropping so fast I couldn't stay out there very long. The big garage held up, that is where my z06 Corvette is stored. The main house did fine, too. We lost power again, that is 7 times this year so far.

One serious storm after another this year, they said on the news this last one was only around 40 mph here inland, I think they were off a tad. We had gusts last night closer to 70 here, and they reported 93 at Newport where our other place is.

At this point we don't even know if our other house is still there, I talked to Mom and she said this one came in from the Southeast down at Newport, that is bad news for our place down there. More free firewood I guess, we must have had 100 trees down already, probably more now.

Storms from the Southeast are rough on us, that almost never happens here. Maybe this is part of that global warming stuff???....*EB

Our power fluctuated with the wind on Thursday night, until the Digger Pine fell across the lines at about 6:30 pm, dinner times, watching a movie, etc. Our PG & E crew worked through the wind, sleet, and rain to retore power to the area. We had light about 8:15 pm last night. Poor kids, no video games. Aah!

I don't know what type of soil you have but my dad in Florida used mobile home auger stakes to secure his workshop and "Florida room". These stakes are 5 feet long, 1/2 diameter steel. The top has a loop that you put a 2x4 in as a lever. You then cork screw into the ground. He used three on each side, threw cable over the roof and a come along hand winch to tighten them down. He lost some shingles thats about it

The wind has knocked out power to much of Nor-Cal. I had emergency calls all day and night. All my patients are oxygen dependent so I have been busy setting up portables. I had 21 calls yesterday alone and had to respond in gale force winds and gusts up to 75+ MPH. Here in Cali thats a hurricane.

>>>*My Dad did that back when I lived in a tiny little trailor. But he set what we call a "deadman". That is a big Cedar post buried sideways down about 6 feet, then he ran cables from that to the upwind framerail. That worked, too. We had the Columbus day storm, wind coming in sideways at 110 MPH and all the trailor did was hop up and down. That was so long ago I almost forgot about what can happen here and at the coast.

I plan on setting a new roof plate and reshingling what is left of this one, maybe use some liquid nails this time. One didn't seal down and that is all it took, once one came loose the rest just went.

If that doesn't work I will get out my wire feed and steel frame the danged thing, bet that would stop it.

That sounds like overkill but I have the steel and I have the welder, it would be easy to do. That shed sits sideways to any Southeast wind. We are completely protected from all directions except that one direction....*EB

Actually it would be much better if you just moved it to my garage, along with a set of keys, of course.

Can I come over? lol

We had some bad wind here in Wyoming. My Mom lives in CoosBay and she had some REALLY bad wind. She actually called into work and the boss was there and said dont bother, as his Window on his Truck was hit with debris, and I guess was cracked badly. he is an Insurance agent, poor guy file a Claim, might get it...

at mid night last night I had to wake up due to the large bush outside our bedroom window was hitting the Aluminum siding very hard. I went out with my saw and cut it down. then it was quiet, till the power went out again... and so I waited. Didnt get much sleep with the noise outside. and sounded like everything was coming down. Hopefully, the truckers go ok, I know of at least one with an Empty Trailer was blown over. NPT Trucking for Delivery Service. was almost to town and Blew over...

Well, its nature.
