Getting the Wheeling Fever
I had an '88 Si CRX for 13 years that I loved, but I started having back problems and had to give it up. Bought my '97 4x4 4Runner last year. Back problems are gone. Yeah, sometimes I miss my little skate, but, I'm having a great time offroading now and I wouldn't want to change that now. Also, it's great to be able to see what's ahead in traffic. I notice, too, that I seem to be given the right of way a lot more often than before. It's probably my ARB front bumper--looks like it could move a house.

It was chipped, had something like 240hp. I was sitting at a stoplight one night, some kid in a rustang was revving his engine, trying to get the attention of our nanny, who was copilor (and who is rather cute). The light turned green, the only thing our little friend saw was the back of the yellow wagon.

It had to suck to get dusted by a vehicle with a carseat in it.

LOL!!! it must be an 850R, i think they were the only ones that came yellow, only one question, did you have the cool smoke colored wheels?

I had a 13 second normally aspirated Sentra SE-R. I miss the rush of the power, but I don't miss fixing it all the time. There are only two things true of race cars:

1-They are never fast enough

2-They are always broken or not running right

Getting a vehicle that makes me drive more "laid back" on the road is probably a good thing. Once I get one, I'll have to get into four wheeling! Ah, a new sport.

Banana yellow...sorta looked faded, wasn't as yellow as the Honda S2000s. 17" Titan rims (5 spoke). The ride sucked, every bump jarred your spine.

The mrs had it when we got married, we sold it a few months later. Too bad, it was cool. If I can find some pics I'll scan. (We had to sell it because we couldn't get it insured do to her heavy right foot).

I had an RX7 before the 4Runner and a MR2 before that and there are days when I miss it, but only about once a month. Most days I'm REALLY glad I'm not sitting in traffic with a five speed.

I had back problems with the low cars too - my back is doing much better now with the 4Runner.

My insurance is down becuase I always had a truck to supplement my tiny cars, and now I'm only paying one bill. The only problem with the 4Runner is that other drivers are rather rude towards SUV drivers. Folks are constantly cutting me off and then slowing down. They never did that to the bright red RX7. My wife's car is a Volvo wagon and it has the same "rude driver" problems, maybe even worse. You can be going 70 down the highway and catch someone doing 60 and they will speed up past 80 to keep you from passing. PITA, especially in strict enforcement areas.

Mudrunner
I have a Mustang 5.0L that I used to drive whenever I took a trip longer than an hour or so. My old SUV was just too crude vs. the Mustang. Since I got the 4Runner *it's* the vehicle I want to take everywhere. The Mustang is just a Sunday driver now...

how can you look over and see the women with their skirts hiked way up in the summer if you are in a sports car? gotta be up in the air for that.

bottom line, get both. i plan to get a 2003 acura CL type S with a 6 speed manual tranny and a LSD, but i am keeping my truck.
