But the whole front clip WITH the front axle is just sitting there...and the truck has 1 foot of Rake or more lol!

Or did someone do a hack welding job on a heat treated high tensile steel frame.. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/zombie.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/zombie.gif" alt="" />

Trucks this size have heat treated frames (the riveted construction is the tale-tale sign) of which welding on is a no-no.

best guess I can come up with is the frame gave at some bolt hole or welded area. Then it cascaded and both main frame rails gave. The area where the front suspension attaches to the frame gets a pounding. Repeated vibration may have created stress fatigue leading to cracks around bolt holes. Especially if the truck is often driven fast on rough roads. It could have failed there.

Body Damage is Cool
I read a post by a Kenworth tech, he was saying that the front clip is assembled separately from the main frame rails. He had the explanation for these photos and how it happened but I can't find the Forum that it was posted on.

I think it was one of the Big Rig forums.
