alabama cylinder heads is selling these on ebay

http://tinyurl.com/yo42aa

for $355 delivered. it says: "THESE AFTERMARKET NEW CASTINGS ARE REDESIGNED TO BE STRONGER THAN OEM" and it comes with a 90 day warranty. 90 days is pretty short for a new head if you ask me.

i called them and i was told that they get a rough casting from overseas and do the finish machining themselves. i have yet to speak tot he head tech guy about these. is delta the only company that makes aftermarket heads for the 4ZD1?

I think you're confusing delta with AMC. AMC is the vendor for aftermarket heads... delta makes a reground camshaft to go in them.

In addition to the AMC casting, there are also two distinctly different OEM castings of the factory heads. The earlier castings are the ones more associated with cracking. I don't think the problem is nearly as prevalent with the later year castings. I doubt what you're referencing to is identical to the AMC casting.
