Need a Spot
I'm having some difficulty locating the overdrive relay, the (crappy) manual I have says it's on driverÆs side but I don't think that's correct. The logical location would be on the passenger side because... umm... that's the area the windshield has been leaking for months! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />

Anyway the OD thermostat is working properly, the fuse is intact, AT fluid level and color is good. With the windshield leak IÆm keeping my fingers crossed that it's the relay preventing the overdrive from kicking in and not the transmission.

I've verified that the Front windshield wiper delay relay and turn signal flasher are on the drivers side footwell. On the passenger side footwell, behind the glove box I see three relays mounted just ahead of the door, behind the speaker -

1) At the bottom is a black relay pointing down with a green connector. I know this is the rear window wiper delay (it stops working when I pull the plug).

2) In the middle is a Green relay with a plug on its surface. It has a white connector plugged in.

3) At the top is a Black relay pointed towards the firewall with a white connector. It's the only one with a part number visible - MD723747. This one has two mounting tabs and screws, one on the top (hard to reach) and one on the bottom.

The top two relays are going to be difficult to remove, they seem to have been put in before the A/C ducting box, maybe before the dash was even installed. I see some clips on the ducting box but I bet there are others out of site that would also need to be removed before I could get easy access to the relay screws. I can't even unplug the middle relay, it's front surface connector is practically wedged under the air box! It might be easier to drill an access hole straight through the edge of the air box that would allow a better screwdriver angle on the relay mounting screws.

BTW, the rear window defroster is also acting up, it wants to run all the time (the indicator is on and the desfroster toggle switch won't turn it off) so I disconnected the ground wire on the rear window frame. I'm guessing that the remaining unidentified relay is also corroded and runs this circuit but then again IÆve seen references to two other relays û

1) An ôauto free wheel hub moduleö. WhatÆs that do?
2) The Engine control relay.

If thatÆs true then thereÆs yet another relay or two here that I canÆt see (or they are on the drivers side).

Thanks in advance for any information and take care of those windshield leaks!!

Bob
