Getting the Wheeling Fever
Does anyone know what the minimum thickness is and when it's recommended to change them?

You would need a FSM (Factory service manual) for a 03+ 4Runner. Closest I could find was a Tacoma manual for the same year. It says 28mm standard thickness, 26mm minimum.

Dont have them turned more than once. And if you get vibration during braking, they are warped, replace them.

Thanks. I've had them turned 1x when they were warped from sitting for many months when it only had 2000 miles. There is no vibrating now, but should I need to replace the pads I'm going to have to rough them a little so it will adapt to the pads from what I have read.

I've done countless pad changes without touching the rotors, and never had a problem. Heck, on my old Honda I wore the pads down to bare metal, and it ate into the rotor, leaving a big gouge in the rotor. I slapped some new pads on it because I couldnt afford rotors at the time, and went to inspect them a week later and the rotor was like new again.

If it makes you feel better, hit the rotor with some sand paper.
