Getting the Wheeling Fever

When I shut my truck off it like dies out rough like the motor is still trying to run. It doesn't take long like it stays running its just like still turning. My other cars I have had shut down smooth. Just wondering if anyone knows. Thanks

Typically this is caused by carbon buildup in the cylinders or a timing issue.

So is it a big deal? I have the timing pretty good. So im assuming its the carbon.

I had the same problem years ago in a Bronco. I just got in the habit of leaving it in drive when I killed the ignition, then shifting to park before removing the key. It obviously didn't fix the carbon problem but the engine stoped dieseling. This might buy you time till you can properly address the issue.
Good Luck!

Not to muddy the waters but I seem to recall seeing posts about the 2.6L (if that's the engine in your truck) having the ballancer 'slipping' so the timing marks aren't right.

I've had older engines act this way. I always used to put it in a high gear (4th or 5th) and let the clutch out. Stopped it right away.
