I get a check engine light and next thing the truck will not start when cold. Just cranks over and not light-off. If I shoot some ether into the air cleaner I can get it to start after a few attempts and using NO throttle to start and it will not take throttle until warmed up a few mins.I do have a check engine light on. I downloaded what I thought was the engine coolant sensor morse code....its hard to tell but appeared to be the code. Replace the sensor at 29.00:( and still have the no start problem.
Thoughts, ideas, solutions??..
1991 3.0 6cyl. gas, auto, 4dr.
thanks

What condition are the plugs, wires, distributor and rotor? Is the throttle body clean? Do you still have the check engine light? I don't recall if the sensor opens or closes when cold. Have you tried starting with the sensor disconnected or grounded out?

Plugs, wire, car etc all new the last 6 months. No, I have not tried to start with sensor disconnected. Throttle body not checked but I cant imagine why that would be suspect.
I had this problem. The check engine lite would come on and then it would not want to start when cold. However the problem went away on its own accord after a few days and no problems. This time is here to stay.

just to be sure, get the code. what did you use to check it? you need an anolog meter (10$ walmart)or rig up a tiny light bulb.
keep trying

and did you test either sensor, new and old one?
sounds like it's time to jiggle the wire harness. (no need to beat the hell out of it though)
anyway that's where you at... testing the sensor and report back

Coolant temp sensor was my first thought. That would be code 21 (I've done a writeup on how to pull the codes, sounds like you're able to do that already though). Check the wiring to the sensor, as others have said above. I had the exact same problem with starting when I got my first V6 Raider. Coolant temp sensor sorted it out.
